Budget Update

  Dear Colleagues: The GEA wants to thank all the members that attended last night's School Committee meeting.  Your presence was felt throughout the community.  Here is a link to last night's meeting if you were unable to attend or watch it live. I'm not sure if it will work at school. http://gctv.georgetownma.gov/show/7563 Also, The GEA would like you members to keep June 1st open for our annual GEA Meeting.  It will be held via Zoom and a link will be provided the day of the meeting.  The meeting will be from 3:00 PM -3:45 PM.  In order to conduct official GEA business, we will need a quorum.  Please make every attempt to attend this meeting. May 1st is Town Meeting.  We are currently strategizing with the School Committee and Superintendent Jacobs about having a teacher presence outside GMHS before Town Meeting begins holding positive school message signs.  We are in the midst of the most challenging budget in the past decade.  ...

Union Update

Dear Colleagues: We want to remind you of the Thursday, April 13th School Committee meeting that will be held on the 3rd floor of Georgetown Town Hall beginning at 6:30 PM.  The Georgetown Town Hall is located at 1 Library Street in Georgetown (Big yellow building).  Due to limited parking at town hall you may need to park at the Park and Ride.  From the Park and Ride, it's a short walk to town hall.   At this meeting, the GEA will be formally addressing derogatory comments that were made at the FinCom Meeting on March 21st.  We are hopeful that many members will attend and show support for our profession and illustrate that unnecessary comments will not break our collective spirit.   As you know by now the town budget numbers for the schools are horrific.  The GEA has voiced our concerns loud and clear about this issue to both Superintendent Jacobs and the School Committee.  Currently, the administration is going through the budget and making all...
