Negotiation Update
Dear Colleagues,
Today's negotiating meeting resulted in some movement from both sides. Specifically, the GEA gave responses to their proposals and counter proposals. We discussed at length the SC proposal about common planning time and our health and safety proposal.
We are asking that ALL members work to attend the next bargaining session as we are negotiating on behalf of all membership and your presence is VITAL. Remember, non PTS members are invited to participate in negotiations as silent reps - union business is considered concerted and protected activity. We welcome your presence as we get closer to ratifying this contract.
Member Action Steps:
- Attend the annual GEA meeting tomorrow, 6/6 at 3:00 pm, check your email for the Zoom link.
- Please make every effort to attend the School Committee meeting TOMORROW 6/6 at 6:30 during which the newest proposed budget will be discussed.
- Additionally, there will be a community event for parents, community members and GEA members to attend next Tuesday, June 11, at American Legion Park (or Flatbreads...stay tuned). This will be a chance for members to discuss the impacts that the cuts proposed on paper will actually look like in real life (IRL).
- Attend the open bargaining session on Wednesday, June 12 @ 4:30 (this meeting may go longer than 6:30, you may leave at any time if necessary)
In solidarity,
GEA Negotiating Team
