IMPORTANT UNION UPDATE

 Dear Colleagues:

We had a great showing at our GCAT (Georgetown Contract Action Team) meeting this afternoon.  About thirty members from Penn Brook and GMHS attended.  We left the meeting with a clear agenda and action plan.

Tomorrow, members of the GCAT will be approaching GEA members and asking you to take a quick culture/climate survey using your phones.  The survey will take only a few minutes.  None of your emails of any other information will be tracked.  This information is vital.  The data collected will specifically determine our next collective steps.  We need these surveys completed by tomorrow.  When a GCAT representative approaches you about taking the survey, please take the time to complete it.

We know that many members received emails today requesting a meeting for tomorrow (Friday) to talk about next year's placement.  IT IS YOUR RIGHT to go with a union representative.  Furthermore, IT IS NOT YOUR JOB TO FIND COVERAGE FOR YOU OR THE UNION REPRESENTATIVE.  If you want a representative with you, please contact your building representative.
NO REP, IF REQUESTED = NO MEETING.

After the meeting this afternoon, Kevin and I met and discussed the current situation with all the transfers.  More than likely, we will be moving forward with a class action grievance regarding these involuntary transfers. If we decide to move forward, the grievance will be filed tomorrow on behalf of membership.  More information will follow when available.

Monday, March 25th is our next negotiating meeting at the GMHS Library.  So far, we have approximately 58 silent members joining us and we want/need more.  If you are available to join us on Monday, we would love to have you.  We are asking all silent members to meet at GMHS at 4:00 PM in the Library.

Thursday, March 28th will be the next GCAT Meeting via Zoom.  A Zoom Link will be provided as we get closer to the date.  Next action steps will be discussed at this meeting.

We know tomorrow is going to be a rough day for a lot of our colleagues and we need to make sure that we are there for each other.

Please join us and wear red tomorrow (Friday), March 22 to show unity with our colleagues.
